Object of Financing

The EUKI finances climate projects. Implementers must have their official office in an EU Member State or be registered there. In accordance with the regional focus of EUKI, implementers from Central, Eastern, South-Eastern and Southern Europe in particular are encouraged to submit project proposals. For the first time and in specific cases, interested parties from EU candidate countries can also apply for financing (as implementing partners) in the 4th Call for Project Ideas.

Bilateral and multilateral consortia are equally sought; however, a maximum of four implementing partners are accepted in addition to the implementing partner.

The following approaches can be pursued individually or in combination:

  • Capacity development
  • Creation of networks
  • Implementing policies and measures, developing strategies and conducting feasibility studies
  • Dialogue formats, dissemination projects and education

Implementing countries

EUKI supports climate projects with actors in EU Member States, primarily the Central, Eastern, South-Eastern and Southern European Member States and in specific cases in EU candidate countries.

Financing is aimed at projects which operate at either national, regional or local level. The projects are intended to support implementation and/or further development of national strategies and policies.

Requirements for potential recipients of financing

Potential recipients of financing must be legal persons with their own legal capacity. Individuals are excluded from financing. Potential financing recipients must be non-profit entities and must belong to one of the following groups:

  • Non-governmental organisations
  • Local/regional/national government authorities
  • Non-profit companies
  • Universities, research and educational institutions

Scope of Financing and Project Duration

A grant between EUR 50,000 and at most EUR 1,000,000 may be made for each project. The term of the project should be not more than 28 months. Projects must be concluded in March 2023 at the latest.
